About Wismer Commons
Wismer Commons takes its name from the Wismer family, settlers from Pennsylvania who arrived in Markham in 1806. The family later gave land for one of the area's first one-room schools. Stone Wismer Commons markers stand at the main entrances, such as Bur Oak Avenue at McCowan Road.
