About Victoria Square

Victoria Square began as a crossroads settlement founded around 1805, after Mennonite families from Pennsylvania arrived from 1803. It was known as Heise Hill and later Read's Corners before taking the name Victoria Square. Its Primitive Methodist church and cemetery date from the 1830s, and the congregations merged in 1884 into today's Victoria Square United Church.

Growth came quickly after 2006, when new subdivisions began, and again after the Woodbine bypass opened in 2010. The City of Markham has proposed heritage designation for houses along Victoria Square Boulevard.

Homes in Victoria Square
