Cathedraltown, where the first residents arrived in 2006, and the newer parts of Victoria Square and Cornell have some of Markham's most recent homes. Angus Glen South Village broke ground in 2024, and Cornell Centre is still being built out.

Markham has four stations on GO Transit's Stouffville line: Unionville GO, Centennial GO, Markham GO and Mount Joy GO. Mount Joy GO, at Bur Oak Avenue and Markham Road, serves Wismer Commons and the north end of the city.
